Swedish version

Jurij (Yuri) Shumakov, 1956-2006

On August 27th I was informed that my friend and regular contributor to Rackelhanen passed away after a sudden heart attack while fishing on the Kola Peninsula, August 20th. He is survived by his daughter, living in Sweden, his parents and brother who reside near Moscow, Russia.

At a later date I will post an article in this web site about this remarkable tier and close friend to many around the World.

Me and Yuri

I would like to thank Jurij for all his great writing contributions. He mailed me for the first time 1999 and since then we have sent hundreds of mail to each other. I never met him in person but I have through all this mail and several phone conversations learned to know him as a kind man and a guy who never asked for anything in return. He willingly shared his wast knowledge to fellow fishermen. The whole fly fishing community will miss his innovated flytying skills and superb articles.

Thank you Jurij
