One of the simplest and most effective ways to mount the Cul de Canard is the system that were built in the traditional Moustique Swiss Jura; fix the hackle of CDC on the shank of the hook and wraps around it like a cock's hackle.

The flies are constructed in this way imitate the ephemeral in the early stages of dun or spinner. At the time I wondered if, using the hackle of CDC with this system, it can imitate other life stages of mayflies or other types of insects.

The structural features of the CDC provide constructive solutions are impossible to achieve with other materials, as well, with a small modification to the mounting system of Moustique, I was able to build imitations of mayflies in various stages of their evolution. Bringing forward the cap next to the hook and fixing them at that point, the barbs of a hackle of CDC, with the system mounted Moustique, got the chest and the wings of ephrmeral, directed as desired or cut in half, depending on your needs, enabled me to realize, in addition to imitations of dun and spinner, even those of spent, the emerging spiders or those of other insects, such as midges.

Dressing

1) On a right hook, mounting the tail and the material to build the abdomen of the fly.

2) After building the abdomen, the fixed side is a hackle of CDC.

3) It surrounds the hackle around the shank of the hook, hangs next to the eye and cut its surplus.

4) I brought forward through the hackle barbs near the eye and set the hook.

5) I raise their beards, and coming back with the thread, and raised the barbs I getting a dun or a spinner.

6) If the beards are divided into two parts in the horizontal plane, I get spent.

7) If the fly is built on a hook grub and beards are raised, I get a emerging.

8) If the fly is built on a hook grub and beards are set forth in a radial pattern, I get a spider.

Una delle maniere più semplici ed efficaci per montare il Cul de Canard è il sistema con cui venivano costruite le tradizionali Moustique dello Giura Svizzero; si fissa la hackle di CDC sul gambo dell’amo e la si avvolge intorno ad esso come una hackle di gallo.

Le mosche costruite in questo modo possono imitare le effimere negli stadi di dun o di spinner. A suo tempo mi chiesi se, utilizzando la hackle di CDC con questo sistema , fosse possibile imitare altri stadi della vita delle effimere od altre tipologie di insetti.

Le caratteristiche strutturali del CDC consentono soluzioni costruttive impossibili da ottenere con altri materiali, così, con una piccola modifica al sistema di montaggio delle Moustique, riuscii a costruire imitazioni di effimere nei vari stadi della loro evoluzione. Portando in avanti, accanto all’occhiello dell’amo e fissandole in quel punto, le barbe di una hackle di CDC, montata con il sistema Moustique, ottenni il torace dell’effimera e le ali che, direzionate a piacere o divise a metà, a seconda delle esigenze, mi consentirono di realizzare, oltre alle imitazioni delle dun e degli spinner, anche quelle delle spent , delle emergenti, degli spider o quelle di altri tipi di insetti, ad esempio i chironomi.

Dressing

1) Su un amo diritto, si montano le code ed il materiale per costruire l’addome della mosca.

2) Dopo aver costruito l’addome, gli si fissa accanto una hackle di CDC.

3) Si avvolge la hackle intorno al gambo dell’amo, si blocca accanto all’occhiello e si taglia la sua eccedenza.

4) Si portano in avanti le barbe della hackle e si fissano accanto all’occhiello dell’amo.

5) Si sollevano le barbe e, tornando indietro con il filo di montaggio, si verticalizzano ottenendo una dun o uno spinner.

6) Se invece le barbe si dividono in due parti sul piano orizzontale, si ottiene una spent.

7) Se la mosca viene costruita su un amo grub e si sollevano le barbe, si ottiene una emergente.

8) Se la mosca viene costruita su un amo grub e le barbe vengono fissate indietro a raggiera, si ottiene uno spider.
