Paraloop with wings

I always considered Paraloop assembly, designed by Ian Moutter, incomplete because, even if it highlight the entire body of imitation and provide it an awful lot of cock’s barbs support, cannot provide it with wings vertical, key feature of the ephemeral. The only insert able in the mounting wings are those of the spent, on which is the reverse hackle wrapped around the slot.

With the mounting Paraloop, the wings are dominated by the collar of hackle that, with its large mass of barbs, does not allow to their profile standing out against the net on the water surface.

I became interested in assembling Paraloop until I decided to find a way to provide him with wings.

I thought, to put the wings in the assembly, I had to tie them on the buttonhole around which you wrap the hackle, and to achieve the goal, I decided to serve the Dropper Loop, the knot that I used for years in the sea fishing, which I know several practical applications. Using a nylon thread of 0.14 mm. in diameter, froze inside the Dropper Loop wings shaped synthetic fabric, and, after having tried in different fishing flies Paraloop with those wings, I had the confirmation of the strength of the fastener.

Dressing

1) On a right hook, fixed the tails and realize the abdomen of the fly.

2) At the point where I realize the thorax of the fly, drive the slot, with wings tied on the head of the left, taking into account that, when it is inverted forward, to be set next to the eye, the wings will have to be in the middle of the chest.

3) Hook the loop parachute to the tool or a substitute (for example, the arm of the desk lamp with which illumine the clamp) to position it vertically and fixed at its base a cock's hackle.

4) wrap the hackle around the slot, below and above the wings, for a length equal to that of the thorax and the winding term returning to the starting point. Fixed the hackle on the hook shank and cut the excess.

5) Reverse the hackle and wings above the chest, fixed the slot next to the crown of the hook and cut the excess.

6) I run the head and the fly is finished.

Ho sempre considerato il montaggio Paraloop, ideato da Ian Moutter, incompleto perché, anche se consente di evidenziare l’intero corpo dell’imitazione e di fornirla di una cospicua quantità di barbe di gallo di sostegno, non è in grado dotarla di ali verticali, caratteristica fondamentale delle effimere. Le uniche ali inseribili nel montaggio sono quelle delle spent, su cui viene rovesciata la hackle avvolta intorno all’asola.

Con il montaggio Paraloop, le ali vengono sovrastate dal collarino di hackle che, con la sua cospicua massa di barbe, non consente al loro profilo di stagliarsi netto in controluce sulla superficie dell’acqua.

Non mi interessai al montaggio Paraloop fino a quando decisi di trovare il modo per fornirlo di ali.

Pensai che, per inserire le ali nel montaggio, avrei dovuto legarle sull’asola intorno alla quale si avvolge la hackle e, per raggiungere lo scopo, decisi di servirmi del Dropper loop, il nodo che usai per anni nella pesca in mare, di cui conosco diverse applicazioni pratiche.

Usando un filo nylon di 0,14 mm. di diametro, bloccai all’interno del Dropper loop ali si tessuto sintetico sagomato, e, dopo aver provato in pesca diverse mosche Paraloop dotate di quelle ali, ebbi la conferma della robustezza del fissaggio.

Dressing

1.) Su un amo diritto, fisso le code e realizzo l’addome della mosca.

2.) Nel punto in cui devo realizzare il torace della mosca, fisso l’asola, con le ali legate sul capo di sinistra, tenendo conto che, quando verrà rovesciata in avanti, per essere fissata accanto all’occhiello, le ali dovranno a trovarsi nel mezzo del torace.

3.) Aggancio l’asola all’attrezzo parachute o a un sostituto (per esempio, il braccio della lampada da tavolo con cui illumino il morsetto) per posizionarla verticalmente e fisso alla sua base una hackle di gallo.

4.) Avvolgo la hackle intorno all’asola, sotto e sopra le ali, per una lunghezza pari a quella del torace e termino l’avvolgimento tornando al punto di partenza. Fisso la hackle sul gambo dell’amo e ne taglio l’eccedenza.

5.) Rovescio la hackle e le ali sopra il torace, fisso l’asola accanto all’occhiello dell’amo e taglio l’eccedenza.

6.) Eseguo la testa e la mosca è finita.
